This is why you may see slightly differing total goals lines as associated to the given odds. Since the highest odds have been isolated for display and likely come from different sportsbooks, the given total goals lines may not match each other for a given game. 

Puck lines (explained below) tend to be set at -1.5 goals and +1.5 goals.  From time to time, for games that are generally seen as being very close in nature, not all sportsbooks will have defined their puck line favourites and underdogs in the same manner.  In other words, the handicap and associated odds can be reversed, between one sportsbook and another.

If you place a bet of 100 units on the Toronto Maple Leafs at odds of 1.70 and they win the game, your total payout would amount to 170 units, including your initial stake. Similarly, a 100-unit bet on the Montreal Canadiens at odds of 2.10 would result in a total payout of 210 units if they win the game.

Puck Line Betting in NHL:

Puck Line betting in the NHL is similar to the run line in baseball. The Puck Line is a point spread bet with a fixed margin of 1.5 goals. The favored team needs to win by 2 or more goals, while the underdog can either win the game or lose by 1 goal. Here's an example:

• Toronto Maple Leafs -1.5: 2.40
• Montreal Canadiens +1.5: 1.60

If you bet on the Toronto Maple Leafs at -1.5 goals, they would need to win the game by 2 or more goals for your bet to be successful. A 100-unit bet on the Maple Leafs at odds of 2.40 would result in a total payout of 240 units if they cover the Puck Line. Conversely, if you bet on the Montreal Canadiens at +1.5 goals, they can either win the game outright or lose by 1 goal, and your bet would be successful with a payout of 160 units for a 100-unit wager.

Total Betting (Over/Under) in NHL Hockey:

Total betting in NHL involves wagering on the combined number of goals scored by both teams in a game. The sportsbook sets a benchmark number, and you bet on whether the actual total will be over or under that number. Here's an example:

• Over 5.5 goals: 1.85
• Under 5.5 goals: 1.85

If you believe the total number of goals scored will be higher than 5.5, you would bet on the Over.
